Bull Arm, NL

Bull Arm, Trinity Bay, NL s one of the main construction sites for the Hebron Project. It was where project contractors Kiewit Kvaerner and WorleyParsons (along with numerous subcontractors and suppliers) built the Gravity Based Structure (GBS), assembled living quarters and assembled the entire Hebron platform before it was towed offshore to the Hebron field.

Construction Timeline

Sept 2011: Began site preparation work which included road upgrades, refurbishing buildings and establishing site services. This work continued throughout most of 2012, including the installation of concrete batch plants and tower cranes.

Dec 2011: Received Comprehensive Study Report approval which enabled the construction of the bund wall for the dry dock area where the GBS is being built.

Oct 2012: Began the installation of the steel skirts, officially starting GBS construction.

2013: Began topsides assembly with first steel cut of the living quarters.

These activities proceeded in parallel for several years. When the various topsides components were completed, they all came together at Bull Arm for integration, hook-up and commissioning. The topsides and the GBS were then mated, and the complete platform was towed to the Hebron field.

July 2014: GBS towed from dry dock to deepwater construction site
